BLOG for December 2016

We love this time of year. The turning of the leaves to yellow, orange and burgandy, the air turns cool and the nights are getting longer. In some ways it feels like the end of something we want to hang on too. (Like SUMMER!)In other ways it feels like the beginning of something new and exciting. A sense of anticipation. It really is that perfect time of year to look back over the events of the past year and remember our family and friends and the times spent together.

Some really exciting news, we put a deposite down on what sounds like a fabulous vacation this summer. For our 18th wedding anniversary we will take a couples sailing course and complete the ASA-101, 103 and 104 courses through Chariot Adventures. We searched for ASA certified classes and though there are several available, this sounded like a great way to spend a week in Puget Sound sailing around the San Juans and learning at the same time. It is a 6 day and 5 night cruise out of Bellingham, Washington to Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor on San Juan Island, Rosario Resort on Orcas Island and maybe Sucia or Lummi Island or state parks. Six months seems like such a long time away but we have been living in our motorhome for four months already yet it seems like only a couple of weeks ago. It will be here before we know it and over and we'll be looking toward renting different kinds of sailboats for weekend trips to expand our skills and knowledge.

I celebrated my 63rd birthday last week. Time and tide stops for no man. It is really amazing how fast the time is going by. So many things have happened and continue moving us toward the goal since we first floated the idea of retiring on a sailboat. It seems to have taken a life of its own. We are enjoying the ride. So until next post....

Fair winds to all of our fellow travelers.
